Natural Remedies for a Migraine
It is estimated that over ten percent of the population suffers from migraine headaches. This dosage may need to be reduced if the pain is continuous. Feverfew taken in a 250-milligram dosage has proven to reduce the frequency and intensity. Vitamin C and pantothenic acid will boost the production of hormones that aid the body in dealing with stress and the production of serotonin. A form of the amino acid tryptophan, 5-HTP, will also reduce the frequency and intensity of these headaches.
Since it is known that certain triggers lead to migraine headaches, try to learn what these are. Foods and beverages containing amines are known migraine triggers. Avoid beer, red wine, pickles, nuts, freshly baked yeast products, caffeinated drinks, sour cream, aged cheese, eggs, tomatoes, onions, and citrus fruits. Eating a diet of fish which is rich in omega-3 fatty acids appears to alter blood chemicals and reduce the risk of blood vessel spasms. Drinking plenty of water and regular exercise will help with the elimination of migraines.
