Today we’re talking about the direst place on the body. Your mouth. I was excited to dive in and read about the Thieves Oral Care products because I am a former dental professional, so I have been completely comfortable using all dental care products without a second thought. I’m sure most people are the same way. We want to rid our house of toxic chemicals that are in our cabinets, but we don’t even stop to think about the items in our bathroom containing anything harmful or toxic.

When I was in school, I was fascinated by the fact that the back of the tongue is actually the driest place on the body due to the bacteria that lives on it. Most toothpaste work to prevent cavities by merely hardening the tooth enamel with fluoride or using abrasive salts to mechanically scrub away microorganisms from the teeth and gums. The problem is that brushing is not enough to eliminate bacterial, fungal, and viral presence in the mouth. Such microorganisms typically his between teeth and under the tongue.

While brushing mechanically removes some of the plaque and pathogens, it still leaves 40-70 percent of the microorganisms behind unscathed to later repopulate the mouth. Oral hygiene could be vastly improved by adding proven and potent antiseptics to the toothpaste matrix, rather than relying on either fluoride or scrubbing.

Thieves Dentarome, Dentarome Plus, Dentarome Ultra, and Fresh Essence Plus Mouthwash use therapeutic grade essential oils at the heart of their formulas. These oils include Peppermint, Wintergreen, Eucalyptus, Thyme, and Young Living’s proprietary blend, Thieves (contains clove, lemon, cinnamon, and eucalyptus). Thieves blend was tested at Webster State University and found to dramatically inhibit the growth of many types of bacteria.

Now that’s a mouth regimen that I will be using forever. Why not actually get to the root of oral health instead of covering it up?
